The most common fear we hear from Amazon brands about TikTok Shop is: "Won't I just be shifting sales from one channel to another?"

The data says no. In fact, it says the opposite.

The Headline Number: 5.2X

We analyzed the top 10,000 Amazon brands, matched TikTok Shop storefronts to their Amazon counterparts, and compared year-over-year revenue growth across both cohorts.

Brands with a TikTok Shop grew their Amazon revenue 5.2X faster than brands without one.

Not their TikTok revenue. Their Amazon revenue.

The Gap Widens As TikTok Shop Revenue Climbs

Here's what makes this more than a fluke correlation. When we segmented brands by minimum TikTok Shop monthly revenue, a clear pattern emerged:

  • Brands with any TikTok Shop presence grew Amazon revenue around 22% year over year
  • Brands doing $450k+/month on TikTok Shop grew closer to 30%
  • Brands with no TikTok Shop? Flat in the mid-single digits, regardless of size

The growth curve isn't just higher for TikTok Shop brands. It slopes upward as TikTok Shop revenue increases. The more a brand sells on TikTok, the faster its Amazon business grows.

The Halo Effect

TikTok is where discovery happens. Amazon is where purchase intent converts.

A shopper sees a product in a creator video, and even if they don't buy in-app, a meaningful chunk of them open Amazon and search for it directly. It is where the brand's reviews, Prime shipping, and buy-box trust close the sale.

TikTok Shop isn't a competing checkout. It's top-of-funnel advertising that also generates revenue.

The Honest Caveats

Correlation isn't causation, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Brands that launch TikTok Shops are, by definition, more aggressive operators. They're likely also investing more in ads, content, and new product launches. Some portion of that 5.2X reflects brand ambition, not TikTok magic.

But the dose-response relationship is hard to explain away. If this were purely a "growth-minded brands do more stuff" effect, we wouldn't expect Amazon growth to climb steadily with TikTok Shop revenue tiers. It does.

One more limitation: this analysis covers Amazon US only, since that's where our dataset lives.

What To Do With This

If you're an Amazon brand still on the fence about TikTok Shop, the question isn't whether TikTok will steal your Amazon sales. The data suggests the risk runs the other direction. Your competitors' TikTok presence is compounding their Amazon growth while yours stays flat.

The brands winning right now aren't choosing between channels. They're using one to feed the other.
